Here is a delicious yet another healthy treat for you all. This milkshake or smoothie recipe is actually perfect for the fall and winter weather, but the cold and rainy days that we’ve been getting around here lately puts me in the mood for something warming. Cinnamon is not only very warming, but it also stimulates the senses and increases the functions of the mind. Like the apple, it is a great detoxifier, which in turn has many health benefits to offer the body and mind. Cinnamon is actually a great defense against various forms of arthritis.
For a thicker smoothie you can omit or reduce the amount of almond milk. Or simply add in more Greek yogurt. The yogurt doesn’t have to be Greek, but I find that it’s one of the healthier ones on the market. Making your own is the best way to go, but it can be time consuming.
Feel free to add an additional sweetener if you like. I find that the apple and banana are enough to sweeten it, but if you’re on a conventional diet you might want to add a bit more. If you do I would opt for something natural like honey, agave, stevia or xylitol. Just go easy on the xylitol as too much can have negative effects.
Makes enough for two.
1 cup Greek Yogurt
1 cup Almond Milk
1 tsp. Cinnamon
1 tsp. Vanilla
Blend all ingredients and enjoy!
