Everyone wants to look their best, right? Especially in the summer when the weather gets hot and we’re all headed for the beach. But just because summer is almost over, doesn’t mean that we can’t still look and feel our very best.
Am I right, or am I right? We still need to feel good, and lose any extra pounds and/or inches.
With that said, the main goal should never be to lose weight.
Instead, the goal is to be healthy. When the body is as healthy as can be, the weight will come off. Trust me! A healthy body has way more energy to burn those extra calories. It’s also got much better blood circulation, and a better plumbing system to keep the stuff moving through the body efficiently.
And while there is no such thing as quick and healthy weight loss, there are things that you can do that will make you look slimmer almost immediately. And below are a few tips that focus on natural health so you can look and feel your very best:
Drink 2 Cups of Water Upon Waking. Drinking water first thing in the morning helps to get the bowels moving without adding any additional calories to the body. Plus, drinking water helps the body to feel full, and thus reduces the risk of overeating. You can drink the water plain, or you can add fresh lemon or apple cider vinegar. Both are excellent cleansers that promote natural weight loss.
Wheatgrass. Wheatgrass is the way to go if you want to look slimmer. It’s loaded with tons of nutrition that will nourish the body from head to toe. And when the body feels nourished, the cravings for junk vanish into thin air. A quick and easy way to take your wheatgrass is with orange juice, or in a smoothie. You can do this for breakfast, or take it with you to work to satisfy the munchies. It’s amazing how one scoop of the powder keeps you feeling full for hours.
Fresh Juice. Fresh juice is another great option. Like wheatgrass, it’s loaded with nutrition that will wipe out the need for heavy foods such as meats and carbs; both of which are known to put on the weight. Freshly made juice will stay good for up to 24 hours if refrigerated, so it’s safe to take to work if you have a cool place to store it.
Fruit & Yogurt for Breakfast. It’s true, fruit will make you hungry. But when combined with Greek yogurt, which is high in protein, you will feel full longer throughout the day and thus eat less. Plus, fruit is very cleansing and will help to eliminate anything that doesn’t belong in the body. To enjoy the benefits, mix everything in a bowl or make a delicious smoothie.
Salad for Lunch. If you do the fruit and yogurt thing for breakfast and the wheatgrass or juice for snack, or vice versa, you won’t be much hungry for lunch. So a green or garden salad with some tossed nuts and seeds will hold you till supper or at least till mid-afternoon. And if it don’t, keep a bag of your favorite trail mix nearby and opt for that when hunger strikes.
Light Supper. For supper treat yourself, but keep it light. If you want to enjoy a hot cooked meal, do so. If you enjoy meat, by all means add in a small portion, but do not overeat. Stop eating when the body says it’s full and put the rest in the fridge for the next day. A few ways to prevent overeating is to drink water about 20 minutes before the meal. Fresh juice and wheatgrass will also the trick! But be careful of the wheatgrass, too much can completely eliminate your hunger.
Other things to enjoy for supper include light soups, beans, rice, salads, and fish or chicken.
Drink Tea. Herbal tea, without sugar or dairy, is known to reduce stress and take off the weight. It contains no calories, thus making it an excellent substitute for sugary drinks. Plus, herbal tea has many cleansing benefits so the body and mind can feel more at ease.
Yoga and Meditation. Practicing yoga and meditation first thing in the morning will help you to put things into perspective. It helps you to set your goals so you can get off to a good start on the day. Therefore, yoga helps to reduce stress, which in turn will help you to lose weight. Believe it or not, stress is a major cause of weight gain.
Daily Walks or Jogs. Going for daily walks not only helps to burn calories and fat cells, but it also helps to relieve the mind of any stressors. It may seem like such a waste of time, but trust me, you’ll ramp up your productivity for the rest of the day. And you’ll look and feel better.
Keep Good Company. Keep company with those who love and support you. Avoid any negativity as best as you can as negative emotions mess with the body in ways you don’t want to know. And they certainly do not help with weight loss!
Refrain from Toxins. Did you know that toxins are the number one reason for weight gain? Toxins are very harmful to your vital organs, and the subconscious knows that. So when excess toxins enter the body, the body will store them in fat cells, and away from the vital organs in order to prevent organ damage. But that sets you up for weight gain and long-term diseases, and you don’t want that.
A Hot Bath. A hot bath before going to sleep at night will do wonders for your health. First, it helps to reduce stress so the body and mind can fall into a deep sleep. And second, if the body is able to sleep well, it will lose the weight while you sleep. How good is that?
